Barry J. Rosenthal

Barry J. Rosenthal is a founding partner of Bromberg Rosenthal LLC law firm, established in 1985. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Maryland and his Juris Doctor from the Washington College of Law at American University. He has been practicing law in Maryland and Washington D.C. for more than 35 years. During this time he has earned the distinction of Super Lawyer and has held the prestigious AV preeminent peer review rating from Martindale Hubbell since 1997, the highest rating given to attorneys assessing their legal, professional ability and high ethical standards.

Mr. Barry J. Rosenthal is well known and respected for his expertise in litigating cases in State and Federal trial and appellate courts throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C., in such diverse areas as complex corporate and business matters, employment and discrimination litigation, serious personal injury and wrongful death cases. Mr. Rosenthal is first and foremost an expert civil litigator, having tried or settled hundreds if not thousands of cases in the diverse areas of his practice. Mr. Rosenthal and his firm have represented large corporations including R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Extended Stay America, Medserv International, Inc. (a large medical device manufacturer), and BPTC One, LLC (the owner of a large apartment complex in Gaithersburg, Maryland). Additionally, Mr. Rosenthal also represents and serves as legal counsel to numerous smaller locally owned and operated businesses.

Mr. Barry J. Rosenthal has a special interest in family law matters, especially high asset disputes. Whereas many family law practitioners only practice family law, Mr. Rosenthal applies his decades of business and corporate litigation experience to more effectively fight for the rights and assets of his family law clients. He has numerous important appellate decisions including Azarian v. Witte, decided in his client’s favor by the Maryland Court of Appeals (a medical malpractice case setting forth the standard for certain expert testimony) Son v. Margolius, et. al (Maryland Court of Appeals addressing barratry and attorney’s fees); Grafmeyer v. Grafmeyer (Maryland Court of Special Appeals addressing the right to indefinite alimony); and Davco Restaurants, Inc. (Wendy’s) v Cole affirming a large personal injury jury award in favor of his injured client, to name just of few of his appellate decisions.

In addition to his business and family law practice, Mr. Rosenthal litigates cases on behalf of injured clients, whether due to auto accidents, slip and fall, wrongful death, or other injuries caused by the negligence of others. Mr. Rosenthal also has decades of experience representing clients with claims of discrimination, including sexual harassment, gender, age and disability discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Americans with Disability Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other Federal and State statutory protections.

Prior to graduating law school, Mr. Barry J. Rosenthal obtained a Master’s degree in Community and Urban Planning and worked as a Vice President of a D.C. based management consulting firm where he directed social science research and statistical analyses. In that position, he published numerous peer reviewed articles and presented papers and seminars related to issues concerning statistical methodologies in the area of drug abuse and treatment.

He has been married to his current wife, Leslie, for nearly 35 years, and has three adult children.

After decades of practice, Mr. Rosenthal remains passionate about the law and the protection and rights of his clients.
